Hundreds of people protested Tuesday against the Nova Scotia government’s resource extraction policies and cuts to cultural programs. The First Nations-led protest was held outside the Nova Scotia legislature in Halifax, in part protesting 130-million-dollars in government grant cuts announced in last week’s deficit budget. Speakers said Premier Tim Houston’s government is ignoring its treaty obligations and some called for his resignation. Mi’kmaq leaders, environmental activists and labour groups opposing the budget were at the event.

Carney broke with most European allies by unequivocally endorsing this past weekend’s American strikes on Iran, which have since been joined by Israel.
The prime minister says it appears the U-S strikes on Iran are –quote– “inconsistent with international law.”
