The Alert Ready national emergency alerting system will be tested today across the country at different times in each province. Test messages will be sent to all radios, televisions, and compatible wireless devices. The test in Nova Scotia will be at 1:55 p-m.

On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters responded to a structure fire shortly after 2:00pm on Sherbrooke Road in Eden Lake. The fire spread and crossed into nearby woods . By 5:30pm the fire was reported to be under control.
Advocates for Nova Scotians with disabilities say the provincial government is failing — when it comes to consulting with people affected by an overhaul of housing support and other services.
The province introduced its plan following a 2021 Appeal Court decision that identified systemic discrimination against people with disabilities seeking housing and supports in the community.
Victoria Levack, who lives with cerebral palsy, says progress has been made, but gaps remain.
She says the province needs direct consultations with stakeholders to prevent people from falling through the cracks.
Former Supreme Court Justice Louise Arbour has been named as Canada’s next governor general. Prime Minister Mark Carney says the retired Supreme Court justice gave voice to the powerless and “those whose dignity was denied, in places where the powerful preferred silence.” In 2004, Arbour stepped down from the Supreme Court after she was appointed the U-N High Commissioner for Human Rights. Carney says Arbour will bring sound judgment to Rideau Hall, hailing her as a storied defender of human rights.
