Nova Scotia Health to ease visitor restrictions in phases

Nova Scotia Health says visitor restrictions will be slowly eased as the province reaches each phase of its recovery plan. Beginning today, two family or support people are allowed for intensive care units, critically ill patients in the emergency department, and for labour and birth. In Phase 2, which could start as early as next Wednesday, brings one designated person for all inpatients, one for patients in emergency departments, and three designated support people at a time for palliative patients and others nearing end-of-life. Additional restrictions will be eased as the province reaches the 3rd and 4th phases. The province says this approach considers several factors including COVID-19 cases, number of hospital and ICU admissions, and vaccination rates.
