You’re paying less for gasoline and diesel today. Gasoline prices are down 1.6 cents per litre and diesel prices dropped overnight by 8 to 9 tenths of cent per litre. That puts local prices at 136.8 cents per litre for regular self serve gasoline, and 125.4 centrs per litre for diesel.
Nova Scotia reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, and no recoveries. The four cases are in Central Zone and are related to travel.As of today, Nova Scotia has 15 active cases of COVID-19. Of those, one person is in ICU.
The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged two people with drug offences. On Thursday afternoon at about 4:00pm, the police unit, with assistance from the New Glasgow Regional Police, executed a search warrant at a home on McColl Street in New Glasgow. Police seized a quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine, digital scales, cash and a prohibited weapon. A 35 year-old woman and 36-year old man, both from Pictou County, were arrested and are facing charges of Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking; and Possession of a prohibited weapon.
The annual fundraising campaigns for three Nova Scotia United Ways have received a huge boost with a generous $50,000 corporate gift. Reuben Burge, President of RMSenergy, made the announcement today on behalf of Whynott’s Wind LP. The United Way of Lunenburg will receive $20,000, and the United Ways in Colchester and Pictou Counties will receive $15,000 each.
It just got a little easier to recreate in Pictou County. Recreation and Active Living departments in local municipal units have joined together to create a recreation link that will take people to one website for free equipment loans. The site was developed with funding support from Nova Scotia’s Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage as well as local community health boards.
Lansdowne Outdoor Recreational Development Association’s annual fund-raising event is being held on Sunday, August 15th from 12-4 pm., with limited tickets available.
