Nova Scotia reported 31 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 recoveries since the last update on August 27th. Twenty-six of the cases are in the Central Zone. Fourteen are related to travel, eight are close contacts of previously reported cases and four are under investigation. Three cases are in the Northern Zone. One is related to travel and two are close contacts of previously reported cases. And two cases are in the Western Zone with one being a close contact of a previously reported case. One case is under investigation. Nova Scotia has 71 active cases of COVID-19. There are currently no hospitalizations
Nova Scotia Public Health is advising of a potential exposure to COVID-19 on a WestJet flight. Anyone who was on the following flight in the specified rows and seats are required to follow the isolation and testing instructions in this table as a high risk contact.
- West Jet 392 travelling on August 29 from Edmonton (10:30 p.m.) to Halifax (6:23 a.m. August 30) Passengers in rows 1 to 3, seats C, D, E and F. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on this flight on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, September 13.

New Glasgow Mayor Nancy Dicks has been charged with assault following an alleged incident at a Black Lives Matter event back on September 27th of 2020 in the county. The incident was brought to New Glasgow Regional Police and was later turned over to Cape Breton Regional Police for transparency reasons. The incident involved Angela Bowden, a writer, speaker and activist who grew up in New Glasgow. The mayor expressed that she was “deeply troubled” by the interaction and expressed regret. In a letter of response to Bowden she was quoted saying “I believe we can move forward from this incident in a productive way to put this behind us for the benefit of all the people of New Glasgow”. Nancy Dicks is expected to enter a plea on the charge on September 14th.
At 4:10 AM on August 30, 2021 a 2019 Bullet Crossfire BL2200BH camper trailer was stolen from Stone’s RV on Westville Road. A dark colored pickup truck was seen entering the property and leaving with the trailer. The trailer did not have a license plate attached at the time of the theft. And Nova Scotia Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach is offering drop-in clinics at several locations in Northern Zone this week to help support vaccine accessibility for residents and nearby community members. The clinics will be open to drop-ins for the Pfizer vaccine to anyone 12 and over for their first or second dose. Locally, there will be a vaccine clinic today from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the Ward One Community Centre in New Glasgow. To be eligible for a second dose, it must be 28 days or more since having your first dose, or 21 days or more if the first does was Pfizer. If attending, you will be asked to provide your health card number and ID at the vaccine clinic.
