Nova Scotia reported seven new cases of COVID-19 and 12 recoveries yesterday. The seven new cases are in the Central Zone. Four are related to travel and three are close contacts of previously reported cases. As of today, Nova Scotia has 60 active cases of COVID-19. There are currently no hospitalizations.
The Maritimes will feel the effects of Hurricane Ida to start off the long weekend. Significant rainfall is expected for Pictou County today into tomorrow with total rainfall amounts between 30 to 70 mm possible. There is still uncertainty with the track of the storm but highest amounts of rainfall are expected for western and central mainland Nova Scotia.
Premier Tim Houston and Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson announced a new health system leadership team yesterday to take immediate action to improve health care in the province. The four-person leadership team will be led by Karen Oldfield who previously served in the office of former premier John Hamm. The Office of Health Care Professionals Recruitment will focus on recruiting and retaining doctors, nurses, continuing care assistants, paramedics and other professionals.
