Nova Scotia has hit a single-day record when it comes to new COVID-19 cases. Officials reported 689 new infections on Thursday, surpassing the record of 537 set a day before. They include 498 cases in Central Zone, 55 cases in Eastern Zone, 79 cases in Northern Zone and 57 cases in Western Zone. The province has about three-thousand-844 active cases and 14 people in hospital, including four patients in intensive care. Most Nova Scotians are now able to receive their COVID-19 positive test results through an automated email. With the significant increase of COVID-19 cases in the province, providing both positive and negative COVID-19 test results by email will remove delays in contacting individuals. The email will include additional instructions from Public Health. When Nova Scotians come for their testing appointment at a COVID-19 testing centre or mobile testing unit, they will be asked at registration for their email and/or phone number, as well as their health card number.

People aged 50 and up, health care workers and those with two Oxford-AstraZeneca doses are now eligible to get a COVID-19 booster at the province’s pharmacies.
