Zelenskyy pleads with Canada for no-fly zone

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pleaded with Canadians to imagine the terror and horror unfolding in his country in an emotional address to Parliament Tuesday. Zelenskyy addressed a special joint session of Parliament by video link from Ukraine. Zelenskyy asked Canadians to imagine what it is like to have your cities bombed, your homes burned, your cities destroyed. Zelenskyy says he is grateful to the Canadian government but is desperate for more help including a no-fly zone to stop Russian planes and missiles.
Province invests $2 million in Mi’kmaw mental health and addictions strategy

Nova Scotia is providing two million dollars in funding for the development of a Mi’kmaw mental health and addictions strategy. The money will be going to a new health and wellness organization called Tajikeimɨk. The organization is a collaboration of all 13 Mi’kmaw First Nations. The strategy is to incorporate Mi’kmaw culture and values in order to enhance trauma-informed health and cultural supports.
Transportation Safety Board gathering information on fatal N.S. fishing incident

The Transportation Safety Board says it is deciding whether to investigate after a fisherman died in waters off Canso on Sunday. Spokesman Chris Krepski says the TSB has been notified and is gathering and assessing information that will assist it in deciding whether to investigate. Thirty-five-year-old Jeremy Hart of Windsor Junction died after spending five hours in waters with 10 metre waves. The coast guard has said Hart ended up in the water during the transfer of the crew of the Mucktown Girl from a life raft to a coast guard vessel early Sunday.

Nova Scotia Music Week Submissions Are Now Open

Each November, Music Nova Scotia presents Nova Scotia Music Week in different communities across the province. Nova Scotia Music Week is a multi-day showcase festival, educational conference, and awards show focused on the Nova Scotia music industry. Music Nova Scotia is now seeking bids from host communities looking for the opportunity to bring tourism, innovation, and arts and culture to their town during the off-season.
