Elementary Basketball:
This past weekend the elementary school basketball play offs took place at West Pictou Elementary School.
1st AG Baillie Bears
2nd West Pictou Wolverines
3rd New Glasgow Academy Panthers
Huge shout out to NGA coming into the weekend with one win in regular season, the kids played better each game and pulled out the win in the bronze medal game!
PCMHA:
Fundy Highland Bantam A traveled for 2 games this past weekend in the play downs.
They traveled to Antigonish on Saturday where they defeated the Antigonish Bulldogs in an exciting game 4-3. Scoring all 4 goals for Fundy Highland was Olivia Marks. Assists by Raleigh MacDonald, Camryn Wright and Alyssa Ells.
On Sunday they travelled to Debert to face Colchester where they defeated them 13-1
Scoring for Fundy Highland were Taylor Toole(3), Lucia Mason(2), Olivia Marks(2), Anna Stewart(2), Natasha Hahn, Mallory Sangster, Camryn Wright , Jana Cameron. Assists by Olivia Marks(3), Lucia Mason(2), Raleigh MacDonald, Maggie MacLean, Emma MacLeod, Alyssa Ells.
Kylee Alexander was solid in nets all weekend.
The team next face Antigonish Bulldogs in a best 2 out of 3 match to determine who advances to the Day of Champions in April
NBA:
A rough night for the Raptors as they fell to Cleveland 126-101.
NHL:
A good amount of NHL games last night,
The Lightning shocked the Leafs 6-2. (The NHL has launched a formal investigation into Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly’s alleged use of a homophobic slur towards an official. Expect him to be suspended for a few games.)
The Islanders blanked the Blue Jackets 2-0.
The Flyers one upped the Sens 3-2.
The Sharks shut out the Wild 3-0.
The Blackhawks hammered the Coyotes 7-1.
The Canes slammed the door on the Avalanche 3-0.
The Oilers got an OT goal from Leon Draisaitl to beat the Rangers 3-2. (Congratulations to New York Rangers forward Brendan Lemieux on picking up the Gordie Howe hat-trick against the Edmonton Oilers!)
