A routine vehicle stop on George street last friday has resulted in a man being arrested on drug charges.
During the vehicle stop the New Glasgow Regional Police located drugs, which were seized and the driver was arrested without incident.
The 29-year-old Pictou County Man is being charged with
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
He is expected to appear in court in August.
Three key RCMP officers involved in coordinating the response to Nova Scotia’s mass shooting will not testify in person at the public inquiry.
The officers through their union and the federal government had asked for alternative ways to testify. The National Police Federation (NPF) and Canada’s attorney general requested that Sgt. Andy O’Brien and Staff Sgt. Brian Rehill provide their evidence by sworn affidavit, and that Staff Sgt. Al Carroll testify in person but only have commission counsel ask questions. O’Brien and Rehill will testify through pre-recorded video interviews on May 30th and 31st, and Carroll will testify on Thursday via zoom and will be questioned by all lawyers.
The Atlantic hurricane season is expected to deliver its seventh consecutive year of above-normal storms.
Environment and Climate change Canada is estimating 14-21 named storms and 3-6 major hurricanes will develop during this years hurricane season from June 1st to November 30th.
They are asking Atlantic Canadians to make sure they are always prepared at home for a major storm to hit.
The fire reported yesterday in Mount Uniacke is now being considered “under control.”
Around 4:30 p.mThe Department of Natural Resources said fire crews were responding to an “out of control” wildfire and that the size was unknown.
About 2 hours later they reported the fire was around one hectare in size and was now deemed “under control” but crews stayed on the scene to monitor for any hot spots.
