Pictou County District RCMP are investigating what’s being termed a suspicious death following a collision Friday night.
RCMP say they responded to a report of a collision involving a pick-up truck and a pedestrian just before 10p.m. Friday in Pictou.
They say a 56-year-old Pictou man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 40-year-old Pictou man was arrested and remains in custody.
The Mounties say the investigation is ongoing.
Pictou District RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating 38-year-old Chrissy Power.
Chrissy Power is described as white, 5-foot-4, thin build, brown hair and brown eyes though changes hair colour often. No clothing description is available.
Police say Power may have travelled to New Brunswick.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Chrissy Power is asked to contact Pictou District RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
An inquiry will examine this week how the R-C-M-P handled communications with the public during the Nova Scotia mass shooting two years ago.
The Mounties have faced intense criticism for delaying the release of key information about the killer.
A senior-ranking officer is under investigation for his role in controlling the flow of information.
According to witness testimony and documents released by the commission, Mounties gave some consideration to issuing a more detailed public warning that night, but that never happened.
Soccer Nova Scotia has issued an open letter about the treatment of referees in the lead-up to its busy summer season.
The provincial soccer organization says with the return of formal competition it has run into the problem of referee abuse, including the swearing at, yelling at and pushing of referees.
It says many of its referees only recently completed their training course and have had less game experience than usual due to the pandemic.
The soccer group says it’s concerned with the number of incidents that have occurred early in the season and says it will not tolerate abuse of any form.
