While gas prices dropped overnight in Nova Scotia, diesel prices jumped up significantly.
Gas prices decreased by 3.2 cents per litre to 213.0 cents per litre locally, while diesel prices went up by 8.8 cents per litre to 222.6 cents per litre in the local area.
Nova Scotia is reporting 215 PCR-test confirmed cases of COVID-19 reinfection over the past six months.
The report identifies one-thousand 950 new cases in the past week and includes total reinfection numbers since the Omicron wave started on December 8th.
A statement from the province says reinfections were not previously reported because the number of people who tested positive for COVID-19 more than 90 days after a previous positive result “was small.”
Nova Scotia’s data on COVID-19 and reinfections comes from lab-confirmed results and does not include cases identified through rapid tests.

Nova Scotia’s premier says he believes public sector unions and his Progressive Conservative government should sit down and discuss remedies after a big union win in the courts.
A Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge ruled Tuesday that the previous Liberal government violated the Charter with a back-to-work bill passed in 2017 that imposed a contract on teachers.
Tim Houston says his government is “open to some of the things that are important to the union membership.”
The teachers union says it’s still pondering whether to make up for its losses through the courts or through talks with the government.
The federal government has introduced privacy legislation giving Canadians more control over their personal online data and cracking down on non-compliant digital platforms.
Bill C-27 was presented by the Innovation Minister, who says he’s most proud of the fact the legislation will strengthen privacy protections for children.
The bill would also impose fines for non-compliant digital platforms and introduce new rules for the use of artificial intelligence.
The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame has announced its 2022 inductee class — and it includes John Sim of New Glasgow, an NHL player and Stanley Cup champion with the Dallas Stars.
The other athletes being inducted are Olympic snowboarder and Canadian Champion Sarah Conrad; three-time Paralympic medallist and two-time World Champion sailor Paul Tingley; and the 1994 Dalhousie Women’s CIAU-Championship-winning soccer team.
A ceremony will be held in November.
