Special Olympics:
Congratulations to two local athletes who picked up a medal at the Special Olympic World games in Abu Dhabi. Kristina Richards (Antigonish) helped Canada to a gold medal in the 4 x 400-metre relay. Earlier in the competition, Richard won a bronze medal in the 200m run. Anthony James (Truro) was a member of Canada’s 4 x 100m relay team that won silver in the M10 division. James was also fourth in the 100m run.
Maritime Hockey League:
The season has ended for the Truro Bearcats, they lost last night 7-1 and were swept by the Yarmouth Mariners. The Mariners will play the winner of the Amherst, South Shore series.
The Amherst Ramblers picked up a 4-3 win last night against the Lumberjacks to tie that series at 2-2.
The Summerside Western Capitals picked up a goal from Dylan Riley and defeated the St Stephen Aces 5-3, they now have a stranglehold 3-0 lead in that series.
The Campbellton Tigres defeated the Edmundston Blizzard 4-2 and now have a 3-1 series lead.
