On Wednesday, the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with assistance from New Glasgow Regional Police, executed a search warrant at a home in Trenton in regards to a firearms investigation.
A search saw police seize a loaded firearm within an apartment unit.
A 25 year old Pictou County man and 26 year old Pictou County woman are now facing a charge of Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; and various firearms related charges.
The woman was released from custody and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court in September. The male was remanded into custody and will appear in court today.
Pictou County District RCMP have charged a man with sexual assault in relation to incidents in Plymouth.
On Monday, police received a complaint of sexual assault that occurred at an equestrian facility in Plymouth.
The investigation resulted in charges against a 68-year-old man, from Plymouth, in relation to a youth victim.
Pictou County District RCMP have charged Herbert Allison Best with two counts of Sexual Assault.
He was later released on conditions and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court on August 3rd.
The investigation is ongoing and RCMP believe there may be other victims.

Statistics Canada says Nova Scotia, together with New Brunswick, had the second highest annual rate of inflation among all the provinces last month.
The agency says the consumer price list was up 8.8 per cent in the province in May from a year earlier — higher than the national annual inflation rate of 7.7 per cent.
PEI had the highest annual rate of inflation in the country last month at 11.1 per cent.
Gas prices went down by almost 10 cents a litre overnight in New Brunswick, while diesel prices shot up 13.3 cents per litre.
The maximum price for regular self-serve gas in New Brunswick is now 209.6 cents per litre.
Diesel is now going for 237.8 cents per litre in New Brunswick.

Nova Scotia’s Health Minister Michelle Thompson is touting the recruitment of 163 new doctors to the province as a success, however opposition critics say they aren’t sure that’s the case.
Thompson says there is more work to do, but says the province’s recruiting efforts are helping to attract physicians.
But Liberal Braedon Clark says with a lack of data, it remains unclear what the effects are on the system, especially with a number of doctors expected to retire over the next few years.
N-D-P critic Susan Leblanc says she still wonders whether enough is being done to keep doctors in the province once they decide to come.
