Heat warnings have been issued for many areas of Nova Scotia, including Pictou County.
Environment Canada says a period of hot and humid weather is expected through Sunday.
Humidex values are expected to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, although it will feel cooler along the coast.
Maximum temperatures will range between 29 to 32 degrees, and the minimum overnight temperatures will dip to 18 to 22 degrees.
There is a possibility Northumberland Ferries could have a second vessel making sailings between Nova Scotia and PEI by mid-August.
Northumberland Ferries confirmed Wednesday that a vessel owned by STQ, a ferry company in Quebec, left Trois Rivières, Quebec on Wednesday headed for Caribou with the potential to be an interim ferry replacement for Northumberland Ferries’ MV Holiday Island which was knocked out of service July 22nd by a fire in its engine room.
The MV Saaremaa 1 is to arrive in the next couple days and then it will undergo an evaluation and there may be some modifications that have to be made to the vessel itself or the shore infrastructure.
New Glasgow Regional Police are asking for public’s help in locating a stolen generator.
On Monday, police got a report that a Red Honda Generator was stolen from a home on Caroline Street in Trenton.
Police determined the theft took place between 9:00pm Sunday and 9:00am Monday.
The owner of the generator is United Rentals.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the New Glasgow Regional Police or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
