Diesel prices jumped up overnight in Nova Scotia as the Utility and Review Board invoked the interrupter clause due to significant shifts in the market price of diesel oil.
Diesel prices rose 7.7 cents per litre to 180.3 cents per litre locally.
The price of gasoline is not affected.
Monthly COVID-19 figures released by the province show that while there were fewer COVID-19 related deaths in Nova Scotia in July compared to June, there were more positive PCR test results and hospitalizations.
There were 8,650 positive PCR test results in July, up from June’s 7,570.
July saw 225 hospitalizations in the province, compared to 144 in June.
Nine COVID-19 related deaths were reported in Nova Scotia in July, down from 15 in June.
Nova Scotia Health has awarded 28 researchers a combined 1.9 million dollars for medical research projects.
The money will be used to conduct research into chronic illness, mental health and addictions, telehealth and women’s health.

Many First Nations don’t have access to midwives because the province’s midwifery services are available only in the areas surrounding four major hospitals.
Wellness adviser Suzanne Brooks says she would like to see midwives made available through the Mi’kmaw Health and Wellness authority.
As well, she is calling for an Indigenous-led midwifery training program.

The annual Air Show Atlantic will be held at the Debert Airport for the first time since 2019.
The event on August 27th and 28th includes aircraft from the Royal Canadian Air Force, along with a number of civilian performers and the Canadian Forces Skyhawks parachute team.
