On Friday morning, at approximately 5:23 a.m., in a Joint Forces Investigation between the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit and Stellarton Police Service with assistance from the RCMP, an arrest warrant was executed on Foord Street at a Stellarton apartment.
It was the result of an investigation into an incident of attempted murder that took place on September 16th at an Abercrombie Road apartment complex in New Glasgow.
As a result of the search at the apartment, police seized weapons and drugs.
40-year old Jamie Lee Jackson of Pictou County has been charged with Attempted Murder; Carrying a Firearm; Pointing a Firearm; Possession of a firearm with no license; and Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited.
Jackson was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou this morning.
Nova Scotia RCMP say an officer has removed a thin blue line patch from his uniform after pictures surfaced online showing the controversial symbol on his chest.
The R-C-M-P officer was responding to a noise complaint Saturday night on a property near Hwy. 10 in Nictaux, at what officers discovered to be a Freedom Fighters event.
Police say in an effort to de-escalate the situation, the two responding officers agreed to be in a photo with attendees and one paid a five-dollar entry fee with his own money.
The Mounties say they are not affiliated with the Freedom Fighters and that the picture of the officers has been shared online without the full context of what happened.
Nova Scotia Power is reporting about a dozen customers are affected by power outages this morning, and about half of those customers are in the Stellarton area.
There are also outages in Truro, Amherst, and Sydney.
Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, a day for Nova Scotians to reflect on their own mental health and the mental health of others.

The line is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You do not need a doctor’s or counsellor’s referral to call.
And there’s the Kids Help Phone: 1-800-668-6868 for young people under age 20 who are looking for mental health support.
