The Pictou County Bantam A Crushers have captured the Northern conference championship last night as they defeated the Sydney Steelers 11-1. Scoring for the Crushers was Ty Briand with 3, Dawson Mackay 2, Seth Gallant2, cameron Munroe, Colby Nichol, josh Macdonald, and Kayden Moulaison adding singles. The Crushers will now take on Tasa on the Day of Champions, Friday April 12th at 5:00 in Truro.
The PeeWee AAA Atlantics begin today at the Wellness Center with games going all weekend long.

Maritime Hockey League:
Last night in MHL action the Yarmouth Mariners dominated the South Shore Lumberjacks 6-1 to take a 2-1 lead in that best of 7.

NHL:

The Blackhawks needed a shootout but ended up dumping the Blues 4-3.

And Alexander Ovechkin says he’s going to play as long as he needs to take away Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goals record. Ovechkin scored 50 for his 8th time this year which leaves him only 237 goals behind the great one. At 33 years old Ovechkin could actually make this happen.
