Strong winds and heavy rain caused some power outages in Pictou County on Christmas Eve.
Winds reached more than 115 km/hr in parts of the province, which caused many trees to come into contact with power lines.
Nova Scotia Power estimates 104-thousand customers lost power, 41-thousand of those were in the North-Eastern region of the province.
The vast majority of outages were restored in time for Christmas celebrations.
The search for a man who fell overboard near Cape Sable Island on December 26th has been suspended.
The man went overboard from a 12-metre vessel while fishing for lobster. There were three people on board the boat.
Halifax’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre received a mayday call at around 8:21 a.m.
He said the coast guard was quickly on scene to assist in the search, but as temperatures began dropping, the search shifted toward a recovery effort.
The search effort was called off at noon Tuesday, according to spokesperson Lt.-Cmdr. Len Hickey of Halifax’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
It will be handed off to the RCMP as a missing persons case.
The town of Westville is holding a contest to name its new snow plow that will be cleaning the streets this Winter.
It is a new addition to the town’s public works department.
Westville residents are encouraged to suggest a name for the vehicle for the chance to win a prize.
