Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement Tuesday for Pictou and Antigonish Counties, indicating we could see some significant snowfall today.
Upwards of 10cm of snow is possible.
It starts with a mix of rain and snow this morning and then by midday, temperatures will fall below zero with the precipitation transitioning to steady moderate to heavy snow.

Cumberland North Independent M-L-A Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin says Allison “Ali” Leah Holthoff had to wait hours for care at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre’s emergency department despite showing signs of medical distress.
Health Minister Michelle Thompson has issued a statement expressing condolences to the family. She says Nova Scotia Health has begun an investigation into the case to determine what happened, and what can be done to prevent it from happening in the future.
RCMP officers remained on-scene overnight as they are investigating a suspicious death in Five Islands involving a firearm.
On social media last night, the Mounties indicated that they had secured an area around Wharf Road in Five Islands and were asking people to avoid the area.
Police didn’t release any information regarding the victim or any possible suspects, but did say it was not an active shooter situation and that investigators believed the death was the result of an isolated incident between people who knew each other.
The RCMP says more information will be released when it becomes available.
Halifax regional police say a man killed while taking part in a home invasion last week died of a gunshot wound.
Police say the 33-year-old man was killed in an altercation with the occupants after three people, including at least one armed with a firearm, forced their way into the home.
The two other suspects fled and police say three of four other people arrested at the home were released without charges.
They say no criminal charges are being considered in relation to the homicide but a 21-year-old man has been charged with three weapons offences, including illegal possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating a rash of vehicle thefts that occurred over the weekend in the Antigonish area.
Some of the vehicles have been recovered and seized by RCMP and will be returned to their owners.
Many of the vehicles were not locked at the time they were stolen or rummaged through, while some also had the keys left in them.
The Nova Scotia RCMP continues to ask people to remove their keys from their vehicles when not in use and to lock their vehicles.
The investigations are ongoing.
