A Snowfall Warning is in effect for Pictou County with upwards of 20cm of snow possible through the day and night. Blowing snow will be an issue tonight as well with the winds gusting to 50kh.

There was an increase in gas prices overnight in Nova Scotia, while diesel prices went down.
Gas prices went up 1.8 cents per litre overnight, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gas at 155.8 cents per litre locally.
Diesel prices decreased by 2.4 cents per litre, meaning the minimum pump price for diesel is 186.3 cents per litre in the local area.
Nearly 40 Nova Scotia doctors have sent an open letter to Premier Tim Houston expressing concerns about the provincial plan to improve emergency care.
The E-R doctors in Halifax say they fear the plan that includes boosting staff and adding triage teams to assess patients more quickly won’t fix problems that have led to lengthy wait times for treatment.
They say the real cause of the problem is not the “overuse” of emergency departments but a lack of available hospital beds for patients who come through the E-R.
The changes announced Wednesday followed the recent deaths of two women who had spent hours waiting for treatment in emergency departments.
The union that represents E-R nurses in Nova Scotia says the government’s plan to bring in more outside staff to help at emergency departments isn’t addressing their concerns. The Nova Scotia Nurses Union said yesterday the most urgent problem to fix is the large vacancy rate for emergency department nurses.
President Janet Hazelton says the province should also provide greater incentives to keep nurses on staff, such as improving pay and ensuring they can take vacation breaks.
Hazelton says the nurses union also wants the province to ensure that a licenced practical nurse is present in each waiting room, to observe and assess waiting patients.
There are currently 40 people who have been hospitalized in Nova Scotia Health facilities due to COVID-19.
There are also 95 people in hospital for other reasons, but who also have COVID.

The majority of patients sick with COVID are in the Halifax area hospitals.
A Nova Scotia man is to be sentenced in May after pleading guilty to fatally stabbing a 23-three-year-old member of the Sikh community in Truro.
Cameron James Prosper was originally charged with second-degree murder after taxi driver Prabhjot Singh Katri was stabbed in the neck at an apartment building parking lot in September 2021.
