QMJHL:
The 3rd round of the playoffs doesn’t begin until Friday but some big news from The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles camp, last night they relieved head coach/GM Marc-André Dumont & assistant coach Brent Hughes of their duties. Word on the street is they’ve hired former Ottawa Senator coach and Antigonish native, Paul MacLean as their new head coach.
NBA:
Couple of games last night,
The Nuggets tied their series with the Spurs with a 114-105 victory.
The Portland Trailblazers are leading 2-0 over the OKC Thunder after last night’s 114-94 win.
The Raptors picked up a big win as well, they tied their series with the Magic 1-1 after a 111-82 beatdown.
MLB:
In Baseball,
The Yankees hammered the Red Sox 8-0.
The Phillies embarrassed the Mets 14-3.
The Cubbies blanked the Marlins 4-0.
The Jays picked up the win on a wild finish at the plate against the Twins 6-5.
NHL:
The brooms were out last night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Vegas Golden Knights shutout a visibly frustrated San Jose Sharks 5-0 to take a 3-1 series lead. Max Pacioretty (2, GWG), Shea Theodore, Alex Tuch and Jonathan Marchessault scored for Vegas. Marc-Andre Fleury made 28-saves to earn the shutout and the win.
The Winnipeg Jets have defeated the St. Louis Blues 2-1 in overtime to even their series at two. Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor (OTW) scored for the Jets. Vladimir Tarasenko scored for the Blues. Connor Hellebuyck made 31 saves to earn the win.
The New York Islanders won 3-1 last night and have swept the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 in the opening round of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs to pick up their first sweep since the 1983 Stanley Cup Final! Blame Columbus for why this doesn’t feel like a bigger deal… because it is one! Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby has passed Steve Yzerman for 10th on the all time playoff points list. 186.
The Columbus Blue Jackets won 7-3 last night and have swept the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-0, pulling off one of the biggest upsets in NHL history and winning their first ever playoff series!
