There’s a Snowfall warning in effect for Pictou County. 15 to 25 cm of snow is possible with the snow expected to begin over western parts of the province this afternoon and spread east this evening.
Two people have been displaced by a fire that destroyed their mini-home near the small community of The Falls, which is about 45 kilometres north of Truro.
Canadian Red Cross volunteers have assisted both adults with a place to stay, meals, clothing purchases and some other basics.
Neither was home at the time so there were no injuries from the fire along Balmoral Road, reported around noon Tuesday.
Nova Scotia’s independent police watchdog has charged an R-C-M-P officer with indecent exposure.
The Mounties say they contacted the Serious Incident Response Team in December after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against the officer while he was posted to the Eskasoni Detachment in 2021.
SIRT says its investigation resulted in charges against a 34-year-old Constable for indecent exposure.
The five-year member of the R-C-M-P is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Sydney on April 28th and remains suspended from duty.
R-C-M-P say Nova Scotians lost 3.6-million dollars to scams in 2022. That’s a record high, up from 2.5-million lost in 2021.
The Mounties say that most of the money was lost to investment, romance and prize scams.
Police are warning Nova Scotians to be vigilant and resist giving out personal or financial information to unknown callers, texters or emailers.
