Pictou County is under a Special Weather Statement with a winter storm to bring 10 to 25 cm of snow to parts of the province.
Snow is expected to spread across Nova Scotia from west to east this afternoon and continue into Wednesday with a changeover to rain in some areas.
In our area we’ll see snow beginning early this evening and ending before morning with about 5 cm expected.
We’ll see showers on Wednesday.
Pictou District RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating 15-year-old Breanna Joudrie, who was last seen on Saturday at approximately 1 p.m. on MacBeth Rd. in Plymouth.
Joudrie is described as 5-foot-5, 120 lbs.
She has shoulder length black hair and blue eyes.
She has a tattoo of a circle on her left wrist and a tattoo of a cross on her index finger.
When she was last seen, Joudrie was wearing a purple hooded sweater and black and white pajama pants.
Investigators believe Joudrie may be in the Dartmouth area.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Breanna Joudrie is asked to contact Pictou District RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
Two men were killed — one in his ’60s, the other in his ’70s — and nine others were injured Monday afternoon when a pickup truck plowed into pedestrians in the eastern Quebec town of Amqui.
Police say the investigation shows the collision was a voluntary act.
Among those injured, three suffered serious injuries and were in critical condition and six others were being evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Provincial police would not discuss a possible motive behind the incident.
A professor at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax and her colleagues are receiving a 2.1 million dollar grant to study how to improve the working lives of people working in long-term care.
Janice Keefe — the director of the Nova Scotia centre on aging — says work on the study begins next month.
The team will also be looking at how working conditions in long-term care settings may affect the care of the residents.
The 2023 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia Wines program is accepting applications.
A news release from the lieutenant-governor’s office says wineries may submit up to three commercially available wines made with 100 per cent Nova Scotian grapes.
It says the wines will be judged through a blind tasting process by a panel of 10 independent wine experts.
It says the submission deadline is May 5th and winners will be announced in July.
