Maritime Hockey League:
Congratulations to the Yarmouth Mariners! They swept the Campbellton Tigers to win the 2019 Canadian Tire Cup! The Yarmouth Mariners now advance to the 2019 Fred Page Cup in Amherst, which runs from May 1st to 5th. They join the host Ramblers, as well as the yet-to-be-determined league winners in the CCHL and LHJQ.
QMJHL:
On Saturday the Ryoun Noranda Huskies defeated Rimouski 4-3 to take the best of 7 series lead 2-0.
On the other side of the league, the Mooseheads picked up a 5-4 OT win over Drummondville, that ties the best of 7 series at 1-1.
All 4 teams will play game 3 of their series on Tuesday night.
U-18 World Hockey Championships:
Last night Team Canada smoked Belarus 11-1. Dylan Cozens had 5 points in the win for Canada. They’re off today but will take the ice against the Czech Republic tomorrow night.
MLB:
In baseball, the Yankees are on a roll! They picked up another win 7-6 against the Royals, the Yanks are now above .500 for the first time this season.
The Red Sox are also starting to find their stride. They scored the winning run in the 11th to defeat the Rays 4-3.
The Cubbies are trying to battle back from a horrible start, they had some help from David Bote who walked off the Diamonbacks in the 9th, 2-1.
The Jays are also scratching at .500 baseball as they took down the Athletics 5-4 last night.
NBA:
Last night the Celtics brought out the brooms to Indiana. They swept the Pacers winning 110-106.
The Golden State Warriors took a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Clippers last night 113-105.
The Raptors also took a commanding lead in their series, embarrassing the Magic 107-85.
NHL:
There’s a smell of elimination in the air, it’s that time of the first round as teams are getting into games 6 and 7…
Last night Vegas had the chance to close out their series against the Sharks but it was not to be. The Sharks got a shorthanded goal in the 2nd OT from Tomas Hertl to push that series to a 7th and deciding game. Martin Jones made a franchise record 58-saves to steal the win for the Sharks.
The Leafs also had a chance to close out their series against the Bruins but Boston had other ideas, great plays from Marchand and DeBrusk and a horrible performance from Jake Muzzin bring the Leafs and Bruins to a deciding 7th game.
Tonight the Capitals look to eliminate the Hurricanes, the Capitals have a 3-2 series lead.
The Dallas Stars are also trying to punch their ticket to the Semi-Finals, they’ll take on the Predators with a 3-2 series lead.
