The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board invoked the Interrupter Clause on Monday to adjust gasoline prices, which went up by 7.3 cents per litre.
That puts the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gas at 162.9 cents per litre in the local area.
The price of diesel was not affected.
Nova Scotia R-C-M-P say a civilian member of the police force is facing sexual assault charges.
Police say 46-year-old Shane Connors of Windsor Junction faces four counts and is to appear in Yarmouth provincial court on May 8th.
The Mounties say Connors, who worked in the protective technical services section, was immediately suspended from duty and hasn’t worked since the allegation was received last month.
Investigators say they are concerned there may be other victims and they are encouraging others to contact police.
Three young people are in custody in Windsor after four people reportedly entered Avon View High School with a firearm.
R-C-M-P say they located a pellet gun at the school, which was placed on a hold and secure.
There have been no reports of any shots fired or injuries as a result of the incident.
The hold and secure at the school was lifted and police said there is no threat to the school, students or staff.
The Progressive Conservatives led by Premier Dennis King won a decisive election victory in PEI on Monday night.
Island voters delivered a hefty majority of the seats to the party, which begins its second term in office today.
The Tories won 22 of the 27 seats in the legislature — the Liberals fell to three seats and the Greens held on to only two seats.
That means the Greens will lose their status as Official Opposition — a role they assumed in 2019 when PEI became the first province in Canada to see the Greens in that role.
Nominations are now open for the 2023 Lieutenant-Governor’s Community Spirit Award.
Up to four community recipients are chosen for the award that’s given out by the province’s Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.
Lieutenant-Governor Arthur LeBlanc says the award recognizes work that creates positive change.
The deadline for nominations is May 15th with forms available through the province’s website.
