A 21-year-old man from Pictou Landing First Nation has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for manslaughter.
Cameron James Prosper was originally charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing of 23-year-old Prabhjot Singh Katri in September 2021.
In his decision, Justice Jeffrey Hunt said the attack was “made without rational cause,” but without intent to kill Katri.
Prosper stabbed Katri in the neck as the victim was walking to his car after leaving a friend’s apartment in Truro.
Renowned artist Dawn MacNutt believes five life-sized sculptures stolen from her property in Pictou County were taken by copper thieves.
MacNutt says she discovered Thursday that the works which had been on display outside her studio and home in Little Harbour were gone.
The woven copper sculptures are worth thousands of dollars with one valued at around four-thousand dollars.
MacNutt says she has filed a report with police and even paid a visit to the local recycling depot to ask them to be on the lookout for the art pieces.
