Nova Scotia’s minister of cybersecurity says his department has identified thousands more people affected by a recent global data breach affecting personal information.
However, Colton LeBlanc says it’s hard to give a new estimate of how many people in total were affected by the breach of the MOVEit file transfer service.
LeBlanc now says another 13-thousand active employees of regional centres for education had information stolen, while information was also stolen from about 17-thousand 500 water and tax bill accounts with the Region of Queens Municipality.
He says notification letters will be distributed at the end of this week, but he adds it will likely take weeks or even months to notify all of the people affected.

Outdoor burning is still not allowed from 8 a-m to 2 p-m, but it is allowed after 2 p-m, depending on local conditions.
The fine for burning when it’s prohibited is still 25-thousand dollars.
