Gasoline and diesel prices both increased overnight in Nova Scotia.
Gasoline prices went up by 7.5 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self serve gasoline at 174.2 cents per litre locally.
Diesel prices increased by 8.2 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for diesel at 167.9 cents per litre in the local area.
An update yesterday from Northumberland Ferries on its ferry service between Nova Scotia and PEI.
The service has been suspended since last weekend when a mechanical issue developed with the only vessel it’s currently operating.
The ferry company says the parts required to repair the vessel are due to arrive on Saturday – and with a quick repair and extensive testing — the vessel is to be back in service early next week.
As a result, ferry service between Caribou and Wood Islands remains suspended through Saturday and Sunday.
The Nova Scotia government has unveiled its equity and anti-racism strategy.
The province’s goal is to ensure a whole-government approach in addressing systemic hate, inequity and racism.
Nova Scotia will invest 1.18-million-dollars toward helping municipalities and villages develop equity and anti-racism plans.
The strategy is the first of its kind in Canada.
Downtown Halifax will be the venue for a new music festival featuring an all-Black lineup of performers.
Crescendo Fest will include a conference on August 4th and a free concert the next day in Parade Square.
The festival has been billed as an event where people can gather for music, education, networking, empowerment and culture.
The company that operated the submersible that imploded on its way to explore the wreck of the Titanic says it has suspended operations.
OceanGate, based in Everett, Washington, owned the Titan submersible that broke apart as it neared the ship’s wreckage on June 18th, killing all five people aboard – including company C-E-O Stockton Rush.
The statement on OceanGate’s website says it has suspended all exploration and commercial operations.
The U-S Coast Guard said last week that remotely operated vehicles were recently used to retrieve parts of Titan from the ocean floor, as well as what are believed to be human remains.
