Scotia Youth Centre is the biggest investigation he’s been involved in in 19 years of service.
Sergeant Brian Fitzpatrick told reporters Wednesday that the investigation started in early 2019 after reports of sexual assaults at the centre in Waterville that happened between 1988 and 2017.
Police say they expect there are up to 200 people who may come forward to make statements in the case.
While they say they cannot confirm the identity of the alleged perpetrator or whether more than one person was involved, police say that all 70 of the initial cases reported involved males.
