Increases overnight in gas and diesel prices in Nova Scotia.
Gas prices rose slightly by 0.8 cents per litre.
That puts the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gas at 185.7 cents per litre locally.
Diesel prices rose by 3.8 cents per litre leaving the minimum pump price for diesel at 193.3 cents per litre in the local area.
Nova Scotia Health Public Health says it’s continuing to investigate Legionella infections in the New Glasgow area.
Public Health has found that one of the cooling towers that’s part of the air conditioning system at Aberdeen Hospital is a possible site where Legionella has grown.
As a precaution it’s been shut off and additional cleaning is being done.
Nova Scotia Health is assuring that there is very low health risk associated with receiving care, visiting or working at the Aberdeen Hospital.
As of Thursday, there were nine confirmed and 20 possible (unconfirmed) cases of Legionella in the area.
Dalhousie University will offer Atlantic Canada’s first physician assistant program, with funding help from the Nova Scotia government.
The province is investing 5.6-million-dollars to get the program up and running followed by 1.5-million-dollars in annual funding.
The two-year master’s program will be open to 24 students, with preference given to applicants from Nova Scotia.
Physician assistants are able to perform physical exams, make diagnoses, create treatment plans and prescribe medication.

He says praise from politicians is nice, but he’d like to have his full income replaced as he’s off his regular job due to being injured during the rescue.
As it currently stands, the workers compensation that is mandated for the volunteer departments only covers about three quarters of the lost income.
