Nova Scotia Power has been fined $750-thousand for not meeting 2022 performance targets set by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
The Board says the utility did not fully satisfy five of 14 performance targets set with regards to reliability and restoring power after poor weather.
New Glasgow Regional Police have partnered with the Town of New Glasgow and local businesses and organizations to introduce N.G Safe Watch.
It’s a public safety video closed circuit television program aimed at enhancing public safety and preventing crime.
With the program, closed circuit television video cameras are being placed in several areas of the downtown core area.
The initial start of the program will include over a dozen cameras throughout the downtown core.
The program’s goal is to expand the program in the future to include more areas.
The cameras are not actively monitored but video footage is to be used in solving and deterring criminal activity.
A civil lawsuit has been filed against ST. FX University by a woman who says she was sexually assaulted by a St. FX football player.
She is one of four women accusing the player of assaulting them while they attended ST. FX.
The player was charged in April with four counts of sexual assault, but the allegations have not been proven in court.
The lawsuit alleges the University failed to properly perform its duties to oversee the care, control and protection of students.
The latest survey says an alarming number of kids aged 12 and older have been treated for drug overdoses in Canada.
The Canadian Pediatric Surveillance Program says stimulants, opioids and sedatives are all used by kids and youth and can lead to severe or life-threatening overdoses.
The survey found pediatricians across all 10 provinces have faced drug issues among patients.
Repairs to roads and bridges continue a month after a historic storm brought three months worth of rain to parts of Nova Scotia.
The Halifax Regional Municipality says portions of six roads remain closed.
More than one-thousand-300 work orders are still outstanding, spanning over 400 roads and two bridges.
The municipality says many of the work orders are for repairing road shoulders.
Pictou County’s Pride Festival will feature a number of events through Sunday.
One highlight will be on Sunday when Pictou County Pride is hosting a Pride March & BBQ in Downtown New Glasgow.
The march will begin at Glasgow Square Theatre at 12:00pm and end at Carmichael Park with a BBQ.
