R-C-M-P say a 65-year-old woman faces charges related to historical sexual assaults, while she was band director at a high school in Truro.
Police say a woman came forward last Friday with the allegations that she was sexually assaulted between 2005 and 2007 while a student at Cobequid Education Centre.
R-C-M-P say Lorna Elaine Letcher volunteers at the Redcliff Middle School and has also provided music lessons from her home.
She also served as band director at the Cobequid Education Centre.
RCMP have charged Letcher with three counts of sexual assault and three of sexual exploitation.
The alleged offences occurred between 2005 and 2007.
The Mounties believe there may be additional victims and say anyone with information should contact them.
The families of the victims killed in the mass shooting of April 2020 want a sincere apology from the R-C-M-P.
That’s according to a lawyer representing a majority of the families affected by the tragedy, who says they have yet to see concrete change by the R-C-M-P.
Michael Scott says there has been little contact with the Mounties since an inquiry report released in March detailed widespread failures in their response to Canada’s worst mass shooting.
Scott says the families are still waiting for a meaningful apology that accepts mistakes were made in responding to the rampage that resulted in 22 people being murdered.
