Shortly before 6pm last Friday, New Glasgow Regional Police arrested two people from Pictou County at a home on Birch Street in New Glasgow following an investigation.
The New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit, RCMP Service Dog and Crisis Response Team, and Stellarton Police, all assisted in the arrests.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on three outstanding warrants including Dangerous Driving; Break and Enter and possession of Break-in Instruments; and Failure to comply with Release Conditions and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police.
He was also charged with three counts of Failure to Comply with Release Conditions.
A 26-year-old woman was also charged with three counts of Failure to Comply with Release Conditions.
Both were remanded into custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou today.
A 64-year-old man who went missing from a sailboat along the Tidnish River in Cumberland County has been found dead.
Police say the man took his boat on the Tidnish River on Saturday, and his sailboard was found empty a day later.
RCMP say the man’s body was recovered yesterday by its Underwater Recovery Team.
Sixteen people have been appointed to a committee to monitor the implementation of the Mass Causality Commission’s final report.
They include family members of those killed, representatives from Indigenous and African Canadian organizations, representatives from police and public safety and a trauma therapist specializing in sexualized violence.
They were appointed by Nova Scotia Justice Minister Brad Johns and Dominic LeBlanc, the federal minister of public safety.
Two people from Nova Scotia were arrested last week following the seizure of thousands of lobster near Moncton.
Federal fisheries officials say two people from Saulnierville were arrested Wednesday for infractions under the Fisheries Act and were later released.
Fishery officers seized 110 crates containing more than eight thousand lobsters.
The department says the lobsters were released live back into the ocean near Meteghan (Meh-TAY-Ghen), Nova Scotia.
