The NSSAF has banned rugby from Nova Scotia high schools effective yesterday.. we’ll go into more detail in a bit.
Pictou County Baseball:
The New Glasgow Kinsmen Bantam Baseball Rep team will hold try-outs starting Sunday at 2:00 and Monday at 5:45 at the Kinsmen field in New Glasgow. The try-outs are for anyone born in 2004 and 2005. Fred Page Cup:
Yesterday the two MHL teams faced off at the Fred Page Cup in Amherst, and the Ramblers got the best of the MHL Champion Mariners winning 5-3.
The Mariners play Ottawa this afternoon and he Ramblers face off against Princeville tonight.
QMJHL:
Game 1 of the Presidents Cup finals is in the books for the QMJHL and the N=Rouyn Noranda Huskies came away with the 5-2 win.
Game 2 is tonight in Rouyn Noranda.
MLB:
In baseball,
It was a walk off.. literally… because they’re socks… The Chicago White Sox scored a walk off 3 run homer in the 9th, Nicky Delmonico ripped it out of the park to beat the Red Sox 6-4.
Mike Trout homered and Tyler Skaggs went six strong as the Angles took down the Jays 6-2.
NBA:
Last night the Raptors fell behind in the game and the series, the 76ers pounded the Raps 116-96 to take a 2-1 series lead.
NHL:

The Boston Bruins picked up a big win on the road against the Blue Jackets 4-1. David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron (2), Sean Kuraly scored for the Bruins where Artemi Panarin pocketed the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, Tuuka Rask made 24 saves in the win.
Another series is tied after a big with by the Avalanche over the Sharks 3-0. Nathan MacKinnon, Colin Wilson and Erik Johnson scored for the Avs, Phillip Grubauer made 30 saves for the shutout.
Tonight the brooms could come out in New York, after sweeping the Penguins in the first round, they’re under the gun against a fiery Carolina Hurricanes team who has a chance to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals with a win tonight. Puck drops at 8pm.
Game 5 is tonight as well for the Dallas Stars and St Louis Blues, one team is looking to go up 3-2 in that series. Puck drops at 10:30.
We regret to announce the passing of Leonard “Red” Kelly at the age of 91.
Kelly played 20-NHL seasons for the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs, as both a defenceman and a forward, recording 281-goals and 542-assists in 1316-games.
Kelly won the Stanley Cup 8-times in 1950, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967. He was a four time Lady Byng Trophy winner, won the Norris Trophy in 1954, had his number 4 retired by both Detroit and Toronto and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1970
After retiring from playing, Kelly turned to coaching, serving as head coach for the Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Maple Leafs.
