Gasoline and diesel prices both decreased overnight in Nova Scotia.
Gas prices decreased by 4.4 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 163.3 cents oer litre locally.
Diesel prices decreased by 2.1 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for diesel at 206.3 cents per litre on the local area.
A 61-year-old Thorburn man facing a charge of murdering his mother with an axe appeared Thursday in Pictou provincial court.
John Douglas Cress is now scheduled to be back before the court on December 5th.
The public prosecution service says the victim is Mary Evelyn Cress, who is the accused’s mother.
She was found with serious injuries at the suspect’s home in Thorburn, and was taken to hospital where she died from her injuries on Monday.
The family of a Nova Scotia woman killed when she was struck by a car in Cole Harbour says they feel the justice system failed them.
Hollie Marie Boland died at the hospital from her injuries on Monday, and Aaron Daniel Crawley is facing first degree murder charges in her death.
He was out on bail at the time of the incident, after facing charges of assault and choking Boland on prior occasions.
The family has put out a public statement speaking of their grief and saying the mother of three might not be dead if the justice system had done more to protect her.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for Malichita brand cantaloupes sold in Nova Scotia and PEI because they could be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.
The affected fruit was sold between October 22nd and November 1st in the two provinces and Quebec, but may have been distributed in other provinces as well.
There have been no illnesses reported in connection with the product.
The recall was triggered by inspection agency testing, and further recalls may be announced.
