More than a year after post-tropical storm Fiona came ashore, Nova Scotia Power is still stuck with a
24.6-million-dollar bill it says threatens its profits and the financial health of the utility.
The company is asking the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to allow it to collect the Fiona-related operating costs — which includes meals, travel and overtime — from ratepayers over an unspecified period of time.
Of those operating costs, 19-million-dollars are for contracts, overtime covers 2.9-million-dollars, and meals and travel account for another two-million-dollars.
The September 2022 storm cost the utility 114-million dollars in restoration.
