Canada’s premiers presented a rare unified front as they took turns saying Ottawa’s recent changes to its carbon pricing measures were unfair to the country.
Following a meeting in Halifax, premiers from across Canada called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to ensure that federal policies, like carbon pricing, are delivered in an equitable way.
Last week, Trudeau announced his government would pause for three years the carbon price on home heating oil to make it easier for users of that fuel to switch to electric heat pumps.
But the move immediately drew criticism from premiers in Western Canada, where few residents and businesses use home heating oil.
New Glasgow Regional Police and Crime Stoppers Nova Scotia are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle of interest in connection with an incident in New Glasgow.
The incident occurred on September 27th on Riverside Parkway where the suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle and the driver left the scene.
The suspect driver was wearing a red hoodie and black hat, and the vehicle is described as a red Toyota Yaris.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have photos or videos, anyone who was driving in the area who may have dash cam footage, and nearby businesses or homes that may have surveillance footage from the afternoon on September 27, 2023 to contact the New Glasgow Regional Police.
Twelve Nova Scotia municipalities have joined the call for the province to fully implement the long-awaited Coastal Protection Act regulations.
Six municipalities have signed on to a joint statement with the Ecology Action Centre, while another seven municipalities have sent their own letters demanding immediate action from the Nova Scotia government to protect coastal communities and ecosystems by implementing the CPA regulations.
The joint statement, organized by the Ecology Action Centre, was signed by Pictou County.
The Town of New Glasgow, Town of Trenton, and Pictou County sent their own letters to the province.
Canada Post has unveiled a stamp honouring Mona Parsons of Nova Scotia.
During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, Parsons helped downed airmen escape back to England.
She was born in Middleton, and raised in Wolfville, and she died in Wolfville in November 1976.
The stamp will be officially issued Tuesday.
