Economics and affordability are at the top of the Liberal cabinet’s agenda as they kick off meetings in Montreal.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s spokespeople say topics including housing costs and supply, will form the main focus of the retreat on its first day today.
On day two, global politics and the upcoming election in the United States are set to be the main topics of meetings.
Trudeau will be putting a big emphasis on policies that help Canada’s middle class as he chairs the cabinet meeting, in preparation for the House of Commons to resume sitting next week.

Nova Scotia has launched its first screening program for lung cancer.
Health Minister Michelle Thompson says the government is investing three million dollars a year for the program, which includes clinical assessments and C-T scans.
Program director Dr. Daria Manos says the program is needed because lung cancer kills more Nova Scotians than colon, prostate and breast cancers combined.
The new screening will be offered to people between 50 and 74 who have smoked daily for 20 years or more and those in the target group can have their risk assessed by a nurse by calling a toll-free number: 1-833-505-LUNG.
Nova Scotia R-C-M-P have arrested a man who was wanted provincewide following an alleged assault.
Police say 22-year-old Nicholas George Lush was safely arrested Saturday.
He is facing charges including two counts of assault, two counts of mischief and overcoming resistance to commission of offence.
New Glasgow Regional Police say that officers on patrol Saturday night received reports that numerous vehicles were parked on streets during the winter parking ban, delaying snow removal. Residents in New Glasgow and Trenton are reminded that the winter parking ban is in effect and vehicles must be off streets during the hours of 1:00am to 7:00am.
