Pictou County EMO is encouraging residents to once again prepare in advance for the latest storm. A Nor’easter is set to arrive in Nova Scotia this afternoon and continue into tomorrow.
Environment Canada has issued storm warnings and watches for most of the region.
The heaviest snow is most likely to fall along the coastline, then into the Northumberland Shore region and across Cape Breton where we could see anywhere from near 20 to 30 centimetres.
Strong winds could gust between 60 to 80 km/h from the northeast to northwest creating blowing snow.
The storm could make for some tricky driving conditions with poor visibility, and likely lead to delays and cancellations.

The Mounties are warning people to be wary of “romance scams” ahead of Valentine’s Day.
They say fraudsters use fake identities and tailor specific strategies to target their victims by developing online relationships and gaining trust.
Romance scams can be emotionally and financially traumatizing for those who’ve been innocently lured into them. Reported cases of romance fraud are likely to be much lower than the actual numbers, because many victims never report the crime due to shame and denial.
Police recommend: not give out money or personal information, respond to text messages or friend requests from unknown people, be suspicious of someone you’ve never met in person saying they love you, and those who never meet in person.

An apple is no longer the preferred fruit for deterring doctor’s visits: scientists found that eating kiwi can boost one’s mood in as little as four days.
A study shows these mental health-enhancing effects are reportedly due to the fact that these fuzzy fruits are loaded with vitamin C, which is known to boost mood and vitality, among other benefits.
Scientists believe the fruit provides us with a faster and longer-lasting boost than vitamin C supplements.
Researchers found that both the vitamin C group and the kiwi eaters reported improved moods. And, the kiwi eaters also said they felt an increase in self-perceived success.
