Gasoline prices rose while diesel prices fell overnight in Nova Scotia. Gasoline prices increased by 3.3 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.65 per litre. Diesel prices dropped by 3.1 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for diesel at just over $1.89 per litre.
The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has arrested two people in regards to drugs and weapons seized at a home in River John. Police executed a search warrant at a home on February 29th and arrested a 53-year-old River John man and a 60-year-old Barrachois man. During the search, officers located and seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, psilocybin, baggies, body armour plates, firearms and ammunition. Multiple charges are anticipated. Both men were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on June 3rd.
New Glasgow Regional Police say there were no injuries in a single vehicle collision Thursday morning on High Street in New Glasgow. A portion of High Street did have to be closed to traffic for a period of time as the vehicle had collided with a power utility pole.
The Town of New Glasgow is accepting nominations for the 2024 Volunteer Awards, and the deadline for nominations is March 13th. The nomination forms are available at Town Hall or through a link posted on the Town’s Facebook page. To qualify, the nominee must live in New Glasgow and volunteer in Pictou County or New Glasgow.
