QMJHL:
The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies have done it! They’ve won the Presidents Cup! They defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 4-0 on Saturday night to win their second QMJHL Championship in 4 years.
They’ll face off later this month in the Memorial Cup which is being hosted in Halifax.
Memorial Cup:
Speaking of the Memorial Cup, the Guelph Storm defeated the Ottawa 67’s 8-3 last night to advance to the Memorial Cup Tournament. Montreal Canadiens prospect Nick Suzuki won the Wayne Gretzky trophy as the playoff MVP.
The Halifax Mooseheads, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Guelph Storm await the final entry from the WHL. Game 7 between the Vancouver Giants and Prince Albert Raiders is tonight at 9pm.
World Hockey Championship:
Busy weekend in the IIHF World Hockey Championship,
Yesterday, Switzerland defeated Latvia 3-1.
Sweden blanked Italy 8-0.
Germany squeaked by Denmark 2-1.
Russia hammered Austria 5-0.
Team Canada routed Great Britain 8-0.
Today is going to be a good day,
Finland faces off against the US and the Czech Republic tangle with Russia at 11:15am.
Team Canada will play the host Slovakia at 3:15 and Sweden and Norway will face off ar 3:15 as well.
Snooker:
Shout out to Hughie MacEachern from Pictou for heading over to Toronto this past weekend for the 2019 CBSA Open Snooker Championships. Hughie won his first game 4-2 but fell in his second by the same score.

In baseball,
The Red Sox scored 3 in the 1st inning and that was enough to upend the Mariners 11-2.
The Jays scored a run in the 1st…. That would be it as they fall to the White Sox 5-1.
The Yankees picked up their 24th win of the year over the Rays 7-1.
The Chicago Cubs are on fire, they took out the Brew Crew 4-1.
NBA:
Game 7’s last night, in both games combined, the score differential was only 6 points!
The Portland Trailblazers had a big game from CJ McCollum, he netted 37 as Portland unearthed the Denver Nuggets 100-96.
The Toronto Raptors are in uncharted territory! Kawhi Leonard drained 41 including a series winning buzzer beater, Serge Ibaka added 17 to pull the Raptors into the Conference Finals, they defeated the 76ers 92-90 last night.
Golden State will play Portland in the Western Final and Milwaukee will face off against Toronto in the East.
NHL:
The Boston Bruins have defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 6-2 to take a 2-0 series lead in the 2019 Eastern Conference Final.
Matt Grzelcyk (2), Jake DeBrusk, Connor Clifton (GWG) / first nhl goal, David Backes and Danton Heinen scored for the Bruins.
