New Glasgow Regional Police has charged two people, both from Pictou County with multiple offences following a traffic stop in the Trenton Park parking lot.
On June 22, at approximately 10:42 pm, New Glasgow Regional Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2023 Kia Sportage in the parking lot of the Trenton Park.
Upon investigation by police the 17 year old driver and 20 year old passenger were both arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, New Glasgow Regional Police officers located and seized a Rifle, Stun Baton, a Prohibited Knife, Drugs, Alcohol and Drug Paraphernalia.
As a result, both the 17-year-old driver and the 20-year old male passenger have been charged with multiple Drug, Weapon and firearm charges.
The 17-year-old driver has been released under strict conditions and will appear in Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date. The 20-year-old -male passenger has been released upon strict conditions and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou on August 26, 2024.
Starting July 8th, both the Stellarton and Westville will be sharing a police chief.
Mark Hobeck will be taking on the role after both towns ratified the decision to go with one.
Chief Hobeck has been the Stellarton Police Chief since 2019, and previously worked with Halifax Regional Police for 31 years before coming to Pictou County.
26-year-old Brandon Crawford Grant who was wanted on a province wide arrest warrant has been arrested without incident after being spotted near Hwy. 357 and W. Petpeswick Rd on Saturday. Police thank residents for their cooperation and spreading the word.
The Edmonton Oilers made history over the weekend being the first team to push the Stanley Cup Finals to game seven after starting out the series with 3 consecutive losses against the Florida Panthers.
They head to Florida where one of the teams will come out with the cup tonight. If the Oilers win it will not only be the first time a comeback like that has ever been done in the NHL, but also the first time a Canadian team has won the cup since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
