Gas prices increased while diesel fell in Nova Scotia last night. Regular Self-Serve Gasoline went up 2.8 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price at 176 cents per litre. Diesel dropped 1.3 cents per litre putting the minimum pump price at 178.5 cents per litre in the local area.
Pictou County District RCMP completed a search warrant on a residence on Maclellans Brook Road yesterday morning. MacLellans Brook Rd was closed at Sherbrooke Rd and Kyle Rd for several hours. Five people were safely arrested at the home. The investigation is ongoing.
The 18-year-old woman who was reported missing on June 24 from Plymouth has been found safe.

Nova Scotia Power customers will be paying for the recovery efforts from post-tropical storm Fiona. The most expensive storm recovery in Nova Scotia Power’s History.
The plan was approved by the Nova Scotia utility and review board in a pair of decisions released Thursday.
Nova Scotia Power reported in the week following the storm, they had spent $24.6 million on the restoration effort.
In a separate decision. The UARB said the $10 million in retired equipment as a result of the storm will also be deferred to be paid by NSP customers.
The utility will have to wait until the next time it applies to the UARB to set rates. So it is not yet clear how this approval will affect power rates.
Starting this fall, Grade 12 students who meet graduation requirements at the end of the first semester will be able to enter two skilled trades programs at Nova Scotia Community College sooner.
The Province is launching a pilot program that will see 34 eligible students begin at NSCC in February. The pilot includes NSCC’s pre-apprenticeship plumbing program at the Sydney campus and the pre-apprenticeship electrical construction and industrial program at the Truro campus.
The program will include nine months of training, allowing students to graduate in November 2025 and enter the workforce faster.
Students in the program will have a two-week break in June to celebrate their high school graduation.
