The announcement was made Tuesday — a new gravity sewer system, which eliminates the need for a pumping station, under Eighth Street and the surrounding area will provide sanitary services and support residential development. Meanwhile, the
James Street and Marsh Street properties rejuvenation project includes demolition of buildings and remediation work, with future redevelopment to provide transitional and affordable housing units and office suites.
The Province and the Town of New Glasgow will each invest nearly $934,000 in the two projects.

Officials say a new pilot program can determine whether and to what extent climate change made a specific heat event more likely. Scientists say attribution studies can also underline the effects of planet-warming emissions.
