New Glasgow Regional Police said Monday that they continue to investigate in the area of the 200 Block as part of an ongoing investigation on Forbes Street, New Glasgow between Temperance Street and James Street. Police were no longer on scene as of 9:00am on Monday and say there is no immediate threat to the public. No further details have been released regarding the investigation, but police say more information will be available as the investigation continues.
Police say the death of a young Halifax woman whose body was found last month in a Walmart walk-in bakery oven is not suspicious and there is no evidence of foul play.
The death of the 19-year-old store employee is now the subject of a separate workplace investigation led by Nova Scotia’s Labour Department.
Police say they don’t believe anyone else was involved in the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

The leaders of Nova Scotia’s N-D-P and Liberals are taking aim at Progressive Conservative’s immigration policies, which they say are outpacing the province’s health care and housing capacity.
During a debate-style event organized yesterday by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Liberal Leader Zach Churchill submitted that immigrants’ chances at success are threatened in a province that is without adequate health care, education and housing infrastructure.
N-D-P Leader Claudia Chender says she is also concerned immigrants are being set up to struggle because of the difficulties in accessing health care and finding an affordable home.
But Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Houston says the province has set up strategic immigration streams, with a focus on newcomers who will work in health care or in skilled trades.
