She said yesterday the N-D-P would ensure birth control pills, I-U-Ds, implants and morning-after pills are available at no charge. The prime minister is expected to announce a temporary G-S-T break today. The sales tax holiday would affect certain essential items to help ease affordability pressures. N-D-P Leader Jagmeet Singh says the announcement is in response to his party’s demands to permanently lift the tax on a range of expenses. He says New Democrats will vote in favour of the measure, suggesting the N-D-P may help the government break the current gridlock in Parliament.
