Pictou County District RCMP say a 73-year-old woman is dead following a crash in Salt Springs. Police say they responded to a report of an overturned vehicle in the river off Highway 104 near the West River East Side Road on Thursday. Fire services freed the 75-year-old man who was the driver and the female passenger – both from Cheticamp. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Mounties say the man sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

A six-year-old child is in hospital after being stabbed in downtown Halifax on Sunday.
The child sustained life-threatening injuries and a 19-year-old woman located at the scene was arrested.
Police say the suspect was arrested for aggravated assault.
Police also say they don’t believe the suspect and the victim know each other.
The Nova Scotia municipality of Cumberland says the R-C-M-P is investigating an incident involving a volunteer fire department responding to a snowmobile crash.
The municipality says the crash happened late Friday and the snowmobile driver died.
Members of the Collingwood Volunteer Fire Department were among the first responders to arrive at the crash, and the municipality says something happened involving the fire truck at the scene.
Police did not immediately provide further details.
Colchester County District RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating 42-year-old Murdock “Kyle” MacKinnon. He was last seen in Bible Hill at the end of January. MacKinnon is described as 6-feet tall with brown hair. MacKinnon may be driving a black Ford Flex with a white top and Ontario licence plate CZZ C674. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Murdock “Kyle” MacKinnon is asked to contact Colchester County District RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
