There’s a Rainfall Warning in effect for Pictou County…Rain, heavy at times is expected, 25 to 50 mm from this afternoon until Friday morning.  Some areas could see more. Of note as well is that the frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Federal ministers say U-S tariffs on Canadian goods next week aren’t necessarily a done deal.

Cabinet ministers met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa Wednesday after he held a call with the premiers.

Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne said one thing the government has learned is to take things “step by step.”

U-S President Donald Trump repeated his tariff plan Wednesday, but his commerce secretary later said the tariff plans could change through negotiations.

 

 

A new facility to help license internationally trained physicians to practice in Nova Scotia faster is now open.   The Physician Assessment Centre of Excellence and its clinic are both being used to offer 26-hundred patients access to primary care.  The facility utilizes a team of Nova Scotian physicians to oversee and supervise the internationally trained team and assess them for independent licensure in the province.  The 12 week program comes as part of a partnership between the province, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and the Medical Council of Canada.

 

 

The Town of New Glasgow and the New Glasgow 150 Anniversary Committee — which has 20 volunteers and is co-chaired by New Glasgow Mayor Nancy Dicks and citizen Jack Kyte — recently unveiled a special logo created for the significant milestone.   The celebrations will mark the 150th year since New Glasgow’s incorporation as a town. The logo prominently features the number 150, along with the New Glasgow 1875-2025.  The Town says the logo’s sun rays and colour scheme of red and gold gives an energy that is reflective of a meaningful journey, a rich heritage, and a new chapter about to begin.

 

 

The East Coast Music Association has announced the 2025 ECMA nominees as this year’s East Coast Music Awards: Festival & Conference is taking place in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador from May 7–11. M  Leading this year’s nominations is Classified and Jeremy Dutcher both with eight.  The marquee event of ECMA 2025 is the 37th East Coast Music Awards Gala, which will take place on Thursday, May 8 at the Mary Brown’s Centre in St. John’s.
