The Bank of Canada will release its business outlook survey and Canadian survey of consumer expectations today. The surveys come ahead of the bank’s next interest rate decision that is expected on April 16th. The central bank cut its key interest rate last month to 2.75 per cent. The surveys will offer a look into what businesses and consumers are expecting in the wake of U-S President Donald Trump’s tariff moves that caused massive drops in the stock market last week.
New Glasgow Regional Police are asking for help in locating a stolen vehicle — a black 2013 Ram 1500 quad cab with the Nova Scotia License plate HBE-298. Police say it was stolen on Thursday night from a home on Park Street in New Glasgow. The truck is missing the chrome running board on the passenger side and was equipped with a triple ball trailer hitch.

Members of New Glasgow Regional Police plunged into the cold icy water of the Halifax Harbour for the annual polar plunge On the weekend. It’s a fundraising event where participants take a cold-water plunge. Their efforts raised funds in support of Special Olympics Nova Scotia and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

History on Sunday, as Alex Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for the most career goals in the N-H-L by scoring the 895th of his career. Ovechkin’s record-breaking goal came against the New York Islanders in a 4-1 loss for the Washington Capitals.
